Oyama Shrine

Last time, I walked from the Kuromon entrance of Kanazawa Castle Park to Oyama Shrine in the falling snow. Even so, I still had not seen everything. With that lingering feeling, the day quietly came to an end.

Inside the shrine's amulet hall, I found character‑themed charms, including Hello Kitty. The hall itself was spacious, lined with many kinds of omamori, creating a warm and gentle atmosphere. And so, that day's journey came to a close.

I heard that even more snow would fall overnight. I wondered what tomorrow would bring.

The next morning. The sky was cloudy. Snow was expected again. Looking outside, the world had already turned white. All I could do was go. With that thought, I put on my snow shoes once more and decided to take the bus first.

I headed toward Kanazawa Station. Above the Tsuzumi Gate, a patch of blue sky appeared just at that moment. Still, the forecast called for snowfall throughout the day. It would likely snow on and off. My snow shoes sank firmly into the fresh snow, unlike the slush of the previous day. The wind was gentler than yesterday, which brought a small sense of relief. The Tsuzumi Gate rising into the blue sky looked beautiful.

Inside Kanazawa Station, people were already moving with purpose despite the early hour. Perhaps because of the cold outside, the station felt warm and comforting. Everyone had their own destination and their own way of getting there. Thinking about that, I wondered if there were other travelers like me among them. With that thought, I stepped outside again and headed to the bus stop.

The bus stopped at a stop called Oyama Shrine‑mae. I had not known there was a stop that went directly there. Walking through the snow, I found myself in an area with wide streets and an office‑district atmosphere. The shrine is near Korinbo, Musashigatsuji, Minamimachi, and Hirosaka—close to Kanazawa's central business and commercial district. I almost lost my way for a moment, but managed to arrive safely. Traveling in unfamiliar places can be unsettling at times. And then, beyond the buildings, Oyama Shrine appeared quietly, as if emerging from behind the city.

Since I had visited in the late afternoon the previous day, I decided to come for a morning visit this time. Beyond the torii, snow‑covered steps led up toward the shrine. The plaque on the torii read “Oyama Shrine.” The scenery was different from yesterday—quiet, elegant, and beautiful. Beneath the giyaman glass windows of the upper tower stood the brick‑built triple‑arch gate. A blend of Japanese and Western styles. It truly embodied that harmony. Snow began to fall lightly, but I was able to complete my morning visit without trouble. I felt a small sense of relief.

Next, I continued my walk through Kanazawa Castle Park. Crossing the Nezumitamon Bridge, I headed toward Nezumitamon. My final destination for the day was Kenrokuen Garden. When I paid the admission fee at the entrance of Hishiyagura, Gojukken Nagaya, Hashizume‑mon Tsuzuki Yagura, and Hashizume‑mon, I purchased a combined ticket that included entry to Kenrokuen. It looked like another long day of walking. This time, the entire route would be covered in snow.

Ah. The snow seems to be falling harder now. I wonder how things will turn out this time.

尾山神社

前回は、金沢城公園の黒門口から尾山神社までの道のりを、雪の降る中歩いて行った。 それでもまだ全部を周りきっていない。 そんな思いを抱えたまま、一日を終えた。

ちなみに尾山神社の授与所には、ハローキティなどのキャラクター御守が置かれていた。 授与所自体が広々とした室内で、さまざまな御守が並び、なんとも言えない温かい雰囲気だった。 そんな感じで、その日の旅は静かに終わった。

そういえば、今夜からさらに雪が積もるらしい。 明日はどうなることやら。

翌朝。 曇り空だ。 雪も降るらしい。 外を見ると、すでに銀世界になっていた。 ともかく行くしかない。 そんな思いで、今回もスノーシューズを履き、まずはバスに乗ろうと決めた。

一旦、金沢駅へ向かうことにした。 途中で通る鼓門の頭上には、その時ちょうど青空がのぞいていた。 とはいえ、当日の天気予報は積雪。 多分、雪が降ったりやんだりなのだろう。 足元は昨日のみぞれ状の道路とは違い、すでに積雪の中にスノーシューズがザクっと入る状態だ。 そして風は昨日ほどではなかったので、少しばかりホッとする。 青空にそびえ立つ鼓門も、なかなかいいものだ。

早朝の金沢駅では、すでにさまざまな人々が、それぞれの目的を持って移動しているようだった。 外の寒さと相まってか、駅内に入ると少し温かく感じ、ほっとする。 ここにいる人々の行き先や手段は、人それぞれなのだろう。 そう思うと、自分のような旅人も、ちらほらいるのかもしれない。 そんなことを考えながら、再び駅の外へ出て、バス停へと向かった。

尾山神社前という停留所でバスが止まった。 そもそも尾山神社前で止まるバス停があったのかと、その時初めて知った。 積雪の中を歩いていくと、この辺りは少し歩くと大通りがあり、オフィス街のような雰囲気を感じた。 尾山神社周辺は、香林坊、武蔵ヶ辻、南町、広坂などが近く、金沢市中心部のビジネス街・商業エリアに隣接しているらしい。 バスを降りて少し迷いそうになったが、何とか無事にたどり着く。 不慣れな場所での旅路は、時々不安になる。 そんな中、尾山神社は、その大通りの裏手のようなところに、ふっと姿を現した。

昨日訪れたのは夕方近かったので、今回は朝に参拝することにした。 鳥居の先には、雪で覆われた階段が続いている。 鳥居の扁額には「尾山神社」と記されている。 昨日とはまた違う風景で、風情があって美しい。 ギヤマン窓のある神門最上層の楼閣の下には、レンガで作られた三つのアーチが連なる神門が見える。 和洋折衷。 まさにそんな作りだ。 少しばかり雪が降り出してきたが、無事に朝参拝をすることができた。 少しホッとする。

次は金沢城公園の続きを歩いていく。 そのまま鼠多門橋を渡って鼠多門へと向かっていく。 本日の最終目的地は兼六園。 菱櫓・五十間長屋・橋爪門続櫓・橋爪門の入口で入館料を払った際、兼六園の入園料もセットで購入した。 今回も相当歩きそうだ。 今度は積雪の中の散策コースである。

あれ。 なんだか雪が、さっきより強くなってきた。 今回もどうなることやら。
